Hi All,

I am having a problem with Oracle forms 10g Version 9.0.4.0.19.
Whenever I am trying to generate a from it is giving the following windows error message 'Oracle Forms Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'. What could be the possible reasons for this?

This is happening for a particular form. I tried it in other machines, but getting the same error. I am able to generate other forms in my machine without any problem. I am using windows XP Service Pack 3 and have a memory of 2GB. I am connecting to database Oracle9i (9.2.0.1.0)

Please Help

So, it is only one form that raises an error? How did you compile it? Did you try <Ctrl + Shift + K>?

Did you EVER manage to compile it successfully? If so, what did you change in the meantime? Do you have a backup, so that you could restore form version that once worked OK (and then "upgrade" it)?

Is it a complex form? I hate to even suggest it, but - maybe you'll have to re-write it.

Thanks for you replay

I am able to compile(Ctrl + Shift + K) this form successfully. The problem is happening while generating fmx for that form with <Ctrl + T>. Unfortunately, This form is Originally done in Forms6i and we want to compile and generate it in forms 10g for our web enabled version.

Is someone, perhaps, using the form at the moment you are generating the FMX file? Perhaps it is locked (i.e. you can't overwrite it).

Thanks @Littlefoot,
Nobody is using that fmx. I have tried in different machines and in different folders. Now, I am afraid that I have to re-write the whole form in 10g!!

Thanks, I solved my problem!!
The issue was with an item. In its Database column name property, instead of column name, it was using a decode statement to change the value from database for display purpose, and which supports in Forms 6i. I think Oracle 10g forms does not support that feature.

Thank you for the feedback; I'm glad you managed find the culprit (which is much better option than creating a brand new form).
